The world is still a long way off from achieving the goal of peaceful, just and inclusive societies. Millions of people are still living in conflict. The UN recorded at least 69,053 civilian deaths in 12 of the world's deadliest armed conflicts between 2018 and 2020.

Aggressive behavior has always been part of human nature. It is also observed in many other species such as apes and mammals; however, what makes us human is our capacity to be rational. UN goal 16 focuses on looking for ways to significantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere. But this is easier said than done.

Violence and conflict often happen because differences in ideologies and tensions can run deep when coming to resolutions. As citizens of the world, is it our responsibility to look for a peaceful resolution, and it is the government's responsibility to provide equal justice to everyone.

Thinking Cap On

How do you solve conflict with your friends or siblings? Sometimes trying to put yourself in the other person's place can help you see things with a better and bigger perspective. Stay calm, be polite and analyze the situation. There is always a solution when you stay calm and talk through the problem.
